Wellbeing: teams are all about people

At Gather, team is essential to how we work as there is no work without our team. This is why we deem it vital that we focus on well-being as a key team policy and — more significantly — as a key team practice. We aim to cultivate an open and comfortable environment for mental health and wellbeing.

The amazing research conducted by Mind has shown that more than 1 in 5 people have called in sick to work to avoid workplace stress. In building an open team culture, we aim to avoid situations like those by providing Mental Health Days and an agreement of no emails or work notifications between 7 pm to 7 am. Think of yourself as a battery. I know it can sound silly but look what happens to our devices when they have low batteries –they shut down. We want to avoid reaching that critical low level, where we feel like we can’t function in our daily lives. When everything gets too much, we want our team members to take a breath and take time out to ensure they’re able to fully recharge back to their full selves.

We have taken a lot of advice from Mind to heart:

· We have wellbeing officers within our team, who help to ensure that well-being within the workplace is a priority for each of us.
