Teamwork is one of our core values and an important part of our team’s culture. Over the last nine months, you may have noticed that our team has grown! We wanted to officially introduce the newest members of our team who have each brought energy and expertise as we continue in our mission to use data to transform sanitation.

Lieven Slenders — Geospatial Manager

Lieven joined our team in 2019 as our Geospatial Manager and leads on data work and analysis at Gather. Lieven oversees all of our geospatial projects including the first assessment of the sanitation data gap in Antananarivo and the design of our geospatial visualisations. An international lacrosse sensation and nature enthusiast, you can find Lieven scoring goals as part of the Men’s Dutch National Lacrosse Team and searching for green space within London’s 32 boroughs when he isn’t at work.

Nicolas Radanielina — Programme Manager

Nicholas joined Gather in January 2020 as our Program Manager for our first Sanitation Data Hub in Antananarivo, Madagascar. Nicholas oversees the logistics for the Hub and is the lead for our partnerships with local stakeholders. Nicholas has previously worked within the Peace Corps in Madagascar, and he enjoys staying active by playing rugby.

Raheema Abdirizaq –Communications and Research Officer

Raheema joined our team in March 2020 as our Communications and Research Officer. She is the lead writer for our Spotlight Series, supports the team to turn our analytical work into policy notes and assists with our governance and ethics work. Raheema studied history and politics and is passionate about how research can be used to fuel social change. Outside of work, she is interested in writing about films and all things romantic comedies.

Indigo Brownhall — Data Analyst

Indigo also joined us in March 2020 as a Data Analyst. Indigo specialises in geospatial data and has supported our geospatial projects including the assessment of publicly available sanitation data and the design of our sanitation risk index. Indigo, who previously worked as a GIS analyst in Cambodia, is an avid traveller and blogs about his travel experiences.

Another of our core values is that we are constantly learning and sharing what we know. Never working alone, each of our new team members has contributed to the full breadth of Gather’s work and team culture. This has been particularly important during lockdown, making sure that we are all supported to achieve our best.
